Aimee Ballinger.
I am a writer, editor, creative writing mentor and bookshop owner based in Glasgow, UK.
I provide mentorship, feedback and editing services for writers of fiction and creative non-fiction. I particularly like to work with first time writers or visual artists who are looking to expand their practice.
Previous clients/ Testimonials
“I reached out to Aimee when finalising three pieces of writing for a project. As a visual artist I was drawn to words but apprehensive about using them, on top of English being my second language. Aimee guided me through my writing and directed me gently through edits and corrections to get the most out of the pieces. The sessions were helpful not only for these particular works, but also for how I think about words and language. I have used Aimee’s advice in subsequent writing. Highly recommended. I hope to work with Aimee again.”

“Aimee provides an attentive and inquisitive eye, gently pushing work in new directions. Her practical and aesthetic suggestions have been hugely helpful.”
-Euan Currie, mentoring client. “I came to Aimee with the absolute bare bones of an idea and no clue what it was that I needed to begin making it into a novel. Working with her, I have watched it turn into something unbelievably real and, well, fleshy! Since we started, I have found myself writing with more ease and clarity, harnessing direction and momentum in my plot that I was struggling to get to grips with. Aimee's insights are clear, incisive, and a pleasure to receive. Beyond the broad strokes of storytelling, she has a brilliant eye for style, and so much knowledge about form and cultural context- so many exciting threads. Through her notes and our (extremely entertaining) conversations, I have been able to notice so much beyond my own myopic view of my writing and been able to organise so many of my chaotic thoughts. Aimee is charming, fun to work with, interesting, challenging, and affirming. I highly recommend working with her even if (especially if?) you are struggling with finding a clear form for a project.”
